The plan, designed in collaboration with landscape architect Jørn Copijn, is located on the edge of the dunes in the beautiful nature area “Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen”. In addition to the master plan for the site design of the area, we have been able to design a number of buildings, including a new ozone coal filter building with a very expressive rinse water reservoir, the technical laboratory, an electrical center, a carbon filter hall, a maintenance building and the Proeffabriek.
Client Gemeentewaterleidingen Amsterdam (now: Waternet) traditionally pays a lot of attention to the design. The buildings can be found along a winding main axis with monumental buildings, connected by art elements (Earth, Water, Air and Fire). The buildings have been given a natural look, in keeping with the green surroundings and have already been designated as monuments.
