FUTURE-PROOF
BUILDING

“We design a building in all respects so that the building can retain its right to exist even in the long term. For us, that is future-proof building … “

In the light of future-proof construction, it is generally stated that we are going to build in a completely different way to combat climate change and further stress to the earth. Circular building. This stands for: the development, use and reuse of buildings, areas and infrastructure, without unnecessarily depleting natural resources, polluting the environment and affecting ecosystems.

As far as our policy makers are concerned, we are going to develop our buildings in such a way that all materials and raw materials will be reusable. As far as we are concerned, future-proof construction goes one step further than what is stated above. After all, circular construction is based on the assumption that a building will be demolished at a later date. For us, future-proof building is designing a building in such a way that this building can retain its right to exist in the long term.

We do this by taking into account in advance that the function of a building can change over time. Consider for example the current transformation of buildings, such as from office function to residential function. This is something our society was barely doing thirty years ago.
