Our assignment was to create a multi-efficient, flexible heart for Gasunie’s head office.
An enormous vertical inner street forms the connecting element between the different floors. The organic character of the design is reflected in the interior of the building, even up to the specifically designed furniture. One of the most striking features of the interior is the use of color in the foyer and the stairwell. We chose earth tones for the structural elements, such as the columns and the central pillar of the stairwell, to symbolise the attachment of the building to the ground.
In 2007 it was chosen by the Dutch public as the most beautiful building in the Netherlands. The ING Bank head office in Amsterdam took third place in this election.
