Science Centre, Amsterdam

A sensational site has been chosen for the Amsterdam Science Centre, a popular institution that will look toward the 21th century. The Centre will be facing toward the city and will be visible from all directions for visitors of Amsterdam.

The Centre should allow visitors of all ages to interactively discover the basic principles of science, and the application of science that affect their lives. A multipurpose space is planned that can be used for films, live presentations, school classes, and special functions such as banquets and meetings.

Permanent and temporary exhibitions will be organized. The assignment called for transparent building, in which harmony should be realized between water, light and glass. Estimated audience: 500.000 visitors a year. We won the architectural competition, but the client chose for another design.
